Negotiating a new agricultural innovation paradigm The recent summit of the key UN agencies and multilateral development funding organizations on rising food prices has underlined the seriousness of a looming global crisis. In a recently published article, Dr. Andy Hall, coordinator of the UNU-MERIT/FAO network on rural innovation policy studies (LINK) asks whether the adoption of innovation systems ideas by the agricultural research community will address the institutional failures and lack of political will that have enabled unsustainable food production and distribution practices to take root. |

Knowledge Economies: Innovation, Organization and Location This new book by UNU-MERIT researcher Wilfred Dolfsma makes a strong and coherent contribution to the discussion of the knowledge economy and of innovation, offering a range of theoretical insights from different disciplinary perspectives. The role of knowledge, knowledge development, and knowledge diffusion is discussed at the micro level of individuals and firms, but also at the level of groups of firms and sectors, as well as at the level of the economy at large. |
